Neben seinem schöpferischen Werk hat Antoni Tàpies eine große Anzal theoretischer Schriften verfasst, die einen tiefen Einblick in sein Verständnis von Kunst und ihrer Rolle in der Gesellschaft ermöglichen. Die vorliegende Arbeit versucht anhand seiner Schriften aus den Jahren 1955 bis 1974 das Kunstverständnis des Antoni Tàpies nachzuvollziehen und zu untersuchen, welche Rollen er dem Künstler und dem Betrachter innerhalb des künstlerischen Schaffens- und Wirkungsprozesses zuschreibt. Nach einem kurzen Überblick über sein Leben und seine künstlerische Entwicklung wird im Hauptteil der Arbeit eine Analyse seiner Texte vorgenommen.
