Every artist loves Bobby for his diversity, not only for his style, but also for his diversity in instruments. Walking Among Giants is the story of a man who never gave up in spite of discouragement and tragedy. It is the true story of a man who not only believes in miracles, but who has lived them. It is moving, often heart wrenching, but always inspiring. It is the story of a man who is living the American dream in the world of music and the story of a man of unbending faith. Bobby Wood is also one of the most talented songwriters and producers in the industry, and, according to music legend Garth Brooks, he may very well be the most successful musician to grace the music business for the last five decades. But Bobby himself will tell you he did not do it alone. First, and foremost, he is a man of great character and faith. It is his faith in God that has underpinned his life and work, and continues to do so.

About the Author
Bobby Wood is a session musician and songwriter most famous for his work as the Memphis Boys keyboardist. After studying classical music, Bobby decided that genre wasn't for him. He joined The Memphis Boys in the mid-60s and over 5 decades has played with the best of the best in music, from Elvis to Garth, Dionne Warwick, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, and hundreds of others. Bobby was inducted into The Musicians Hall of Fame in 2007 as a member of The Memphis Boys.
Barbara is Bobby's cousin and co-author of The Bobby Wood Story. She has lived in Memphis throughout most of her life.

So glad I got this book
By Briget
Before leaving for Memphis this year I looked through the events on elvis.com and noticed with delight a book signing by Bobby Wood at Graceland Plaza then to be joined by the rest of The Memphis Boys. Aha I said to myself what an opportunity to meet these unique, amazing and wonderfuls guys!I missed the chance back in 2007 but wasn't going to this time. The date & time went into my diary. But I sure as hell wasn't using the meet & greet to buy yet another book. Well that was my intention anyway!
At Graceland Plaza I took myself to where the book signing was taking place half an hour or so before it was due to start. On a table near a roped off area was a stack of books and some photographs of The Memphis Boys. What do you know? I did exactly what I said I wasn't going to do and picked up a book (agghh!!) to kill time opening it at the foreword written by Garth Brooks and then on to the tributes. That was it, I was hooked! I just couldn't put it down and wanted to read more. When I looked up there was the man himself with an amazing aura about him and not a hint of an ego with Barbara Wood Leary the author of this well written book sitting at the table joined shortly afterwards by the rest of the guys. I couldn't believe it...the very guys behind so many hits. After just a couple of pages I found myself in awe of Bobby Wood and as I read more, in awe of the entire band. Not only are they world class musicians, they are great friends with a tight bond, grounded and so thankful for the place they hold in our lives. It's amazing the way you think you know everything about someone, their achievements and so on, but after reading this book, what Bobby Wood hasn't done isn't worth writing about! Who he hasn't sat in on a session with, recorded for, written for isn't worth knowing! I mean how many people really do know that Bobby (and the guys) goes way beyond his time with Elvis Presley and the timeless and historical American Sound in Memphis?
The book tells us about how Bobby started and his determination to get up after each fall. He is an amazing inspiration and credit to his fans and even non fans, and to those who want to make it in the industry, with his own unique creativity that many can only dream about. Yet what he has been blessed with in life he gives back! He has endured bad times, tragedy, heartaches, pain, learning things the hard way as well as good times when everything has fallen into place. You find yourself crying, laughing, and rejoicing with each chhapter of the book. Bobby is all soul and that soul plays a big part in his music.
Goodness, after reading the book I realised that Bobby truly is a giant and an honest one too. A wonderful human being, a genius so respected and admired by artists and fans worldwide. His beliefs and his faith in God are as much a part in his life as his music and he and the rest of The Memphis Boys are so true to themselves and what they do. When I came to the last page I really wished that there were more to turn and when I finally closed the book I looked at the front cover again and at this knee high kid sitting at the piano. A kid born with a talent who had a dream he followed. He persued his dream and overcome every obstacle and challenge that got in his way. Today he still lives that dream and the world is a better place for him.
The book is a must read and I'm so glad I bought it not only because it has allowed me into Bobby's world and it has educated me and shown me more about this man who is a legend, but also because at the end of it I got a feeling I had known Bobby Wood for a lifetime and shared his journey. I felt too that I had made a new friend... a very special and blessed friend.

Giant book by a master musician
By Kindle Customer
This is the story of the most influential musician since the advent of recorded music. There are four pages at the end of this book listing the greatest artists of rock and roll, rhythm & blues, & country music that Bobby Wood had played on records by. He was a hit artist himself before the accident that sent him on a career as a studio musician and songwriter extraordinaire. From Elvis Presley to Garth Brooks, Bobby has been a big part of the greatest albums in the 20th & 21st centuries. This is not just a book about his accomplishments in music. It is a book about facing adversity and the "devil in the mirror" and making mistakes and learning from them. It's about death and resurrection. It's about learning how to let your mind be the servant of the heart and not the master. William Arthur Ward said, "Adversity causes some men to break; others to break records". Bobby Wood is one of the "Giants" that had faced adversity and broken records.Kim Williams
