Jahrhunderts analysiert. Dabei werden folgende Aspekte untersucht: Einerseits, die politisch-historische Entwicklung dieses Prozesses. Dabei handelt es sich unter anderem um die Festlegung der Landesgrenzen, Bildung und Evolution staatlicher Strukturen und Partizipation der Bevölkerung im politischen Leben des Landes. Außerdem werden Mittel, Institutionen und Symbole angesprochen, mit deren Hilfe sich die venezolanische politische Führung nach der Staatsgründung bemühte, ein nationales Gemeinschaftsgefühl zu schaffen. Des Weiteren wird das ökonomische System analysiert, das nationale Inhalte und Ziele verkörpert, dabei unter anderem Faktoren, die mit wirtschaftlicher Integration bzw. Desintegration des Landes in Verbindung stehen, wie z. B. die Einführung der einheitlichen Währung, der Stand und Ausbau der Infrastruktur sowie Außenhandelspolitik. Außerdem wird die soziale Entwicklung untersucht, die die Fragen der Evolution der gesellschaftlichen Struktur behandelt. Anhand der oben genannten Kriterien wird analysiert, wie sich der Prozess der Nations- und Staatsbildung in Venezuela entwickelte, welche Besonderheiten er aufweist und inwieweit man im Laufe des 19. Jahrhunderts über Venezuela als eine Nation sprechen kann. Aus der zeitlichen Perspektive gesehen, wird die Analyse der Nationsbildung auf folgende Weise vorgenommen: Zuerst wird die Periode seit dem Beginn der Unabhängigkeitskriege 1810 bis zur Auflösung Großkolumbiens 1830 behandelt. In der Literatur wird das Thema in Bezug auf die Bildung der Nationen in Lateinamerika häufig ab 1830 datiert. Erste Versuche, staatliche Strukturen zu bauen und die nationale Identität zu schaffen, wurden jedoch schon 1810 mit Beginn des Unabhängigkeitskrieges und 1811 mit der Unabhängigkeitserklärung unternommen. Weiterhin wird die Periode seit der Bildung des unabhängigen Staates Venezuela 1830 bis zum Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts analysiert. Im Rahmen dieser Arbeit scheint es unmöglich zu sein, alle Aspekte der Staats- und Nationsbildung im 19. Jahrhundert gleichmäßig zu schildern. Aus diesem Grund werden einige Akzente gesetzt, die bei der Analyse der genannten Aspekte als besonders wichtig erscheinen. [...]
