Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2000 im Fachbereich Politik - Politische Theorie und Ideengeschichte, Note: 2,0, Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz (Institut für Politikwissenschaft), Veranstaltung: Moralisches Urteil und moralisches Handeln , 20 Quellen im Literaturverzeichnis, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Moral ist ein expandierendes Thema, das heutzutage in allen Lebensbereichen von Relevanz zu sein scheint. Mit dem Übergang zur modernen Gesellschaft entstand die Notwendigkeit einer universellen, gesellschaftspraktischen Moral. Auch und gerade in der Politik wird Moral immer wieder thematisiert. Bereits zu Zeiten Machiavellis wurde moralisches Verhalten Regierender beleuchtet und in Frage gestellt. Mit zunehmender Komplexität der Gesellschaft gewinnt die Frage nach moralischen Urteilen und dem damit verbundenem Handeln immer mehr an Bedeutung und wird zunehmend schwieriger zu beantworten. Der Begriff der Moral wird uneinheitlicher und komplexer, je weiter die gesellschaftliche Differenzierung fortschreitet und je eigenständiger die gesellschaftlichen Subsysteme werden. Auch für die Politik wird es schwieriger, zu formulieren, inwieweit sie auf Moral verpflichtet ist und dies über-haupt werden soll. Derartige Infragestellungen werden immer häufiger, jedoch läßt sich eine befriedigende Antwort nur schwerlich formulieren.
Im folgenden wird die Theorie der Moral Niklas Luhmanns vorgestellt und näher beleuchtet. Es wird versucht, die Frage zu beantworten, in welchem Zusammenhang Politik und Moral nach Luhmann stehen und ob Moral in der Politik überhaupt zur Anwendung kommen sollte. Es wird demnach nach den Implikationen Luhmanns Moraltheorie für die Politik gefragt. Dafür ist es zunächst notwendig, die Theorie der Moral grundlegend zu skizzieren und in ihren Zusammenhängen darzulegen. Anschließend wird auf die eigentliche Fragestellung, die Implikationen der Moraltheorie Luhmanns für die Politik, eingegangen und es wird versucht, das Verhältnis von Moral und Politik zu klären. Anschließend werden einige allgemeine Kritikpunkte an Luhmanns Moraltheorie angeführt und in einer Schlußbemerkung nochmals die Essenz der Arbeit zusammengefaßt.
Generell wird davon ausgegangen, dass die Theorie Sozialer Systeme Luhmanns bekannt ist, weshalb nicht explizit auf sie eingegangen wird. Das würde in Verbindung mit der Fragestellung den Rahmen einer Seminararbeit überschreiten. Wenn es zum Verständnis der hier zu skizzierenden Moraltheorie notwendig erscheint, werden die generellen Zusammenhänge der Theorie Sozialer Systeme in angemessenen Umfang dargestellt, ohne die gesamte Theorie darzulegen.
