Die Betriebswirtschaftslehre nennt als Formalziel von Unternehmen „Gewinnerzielung“ und definiert Gewinn als „Erlös minus Kosten“. Gewinn kann also grundsätzlich mit zwei Strategien erzielt werden: Erstens durch Erreichen von möglichst hohen Erlösen bei gegebenen Kosten und zweitens bei gegebenen Erlösen durch Anstreben geringer Kosten. Diese Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit der Erlösseite. Ein Unternehmen gleich welcher Art – auch die hier behandelte Systemastronomie - muß seine Waren und Dienste am Markt verkaufen; dafür müssen sie marktfähig sein, sonst kann es sie bei noch so wirtschaftlicher Herstellung nicht verkaufen. Ein Unternehmen, das dem nicht Rechnung trägt, ist nicht lebensfähig. Ein Unternehmen muß also stets den (sich ändernden) Konsumentenpräferenzen Rechnung tragen, um Erfolg zu haben. Es muß sein Angebotsverhalten entsprechend gestalten. Um sich anpassen zu können, benötigt es Informationen über die Konsumentenpräferenzen, ihre Änderungen und spezielle Trends.
Nun gibt es allgemeine gesellschaftliche Trends und spezielle für bestimmte Branchen; auch bei der hier behandelten Systemgastronomie ist das nicht anders; und deren Beachtung ist mit entscheidend für den Erfolg der Unternehmen. Aufgabe dieser Arbeit ist es herauszufinden, nicht durch eigene empirische Arbeit, sondern durch Auswertung von Sekundärliteratur, in wie fern gesellschaftliche Trends, allgemeine und spezielle, die Systemgastronomie allgemein und besonders das Unternehmen McDonald’s in der Geschäftspolitik beeinflussen, um letztlich das oben genannte Ziel zu erreichen: positiven Erfolg bzw. Gewinn.
Vorgehensweise
Nach der Einleitung wird im nächsten Kapitel zunächst die Systemgastronomie beschrieben und abgegrenzt. Sodann werden gesellschaftliche Trends behandelt und im Punkt „Trends in der Systemgastronomie und gesellschaftliche Trends“ verknüpft, eines der Hauptanliegen der Arbeit. Das zweite Hauptkapitel über die spezielle Reaktion von McDonald’s schließt sich an. Abschließend werden wichtige Ergebnisse der Arbeit referiert.
