Two of his speeches, the "Nomination Acceptance Speech“ and the “Remarks at the Dedication of the Aerospace Medical Health Center” are interpreted and analyzed. In this part of the paper, the literary aspects of the speeches are examined, most importantly the theme of the "New Frontier". Furthermore, his political performance is evaluated and compared to the contents of his speeches; the idea is to examine whether or not Kennedy delivered what he promised and to evaluate his presidency in accordance with the means of political science.

Addressing this mass of images conventionally ignored in art history, The Politics of the Provisional contends that they were at the heart of debates on the nature of political authenticity and historical memory during the French Revolution. Thinking about material durability, this book suggests, was one of the key ways in which revolutionaries conceptualized duration, and it was crucial to how they imagined the Revolution’s transformative role in history.

The Politics of the Provisional is the first book in the Art History Publication Initiative (AHPI), a collaborative grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation. Thanks to the AHPI grant, this book is available on a variety of popular e-book platforms.

These different states of society are due to ‘individual’ developments and national attitudes towards class e.g. whereas in Britain the Industrial Revolution already had begun, Germany still suffered from feudalism.
Apart from those historical developments class gains in almost every modern nation another emphasise. In Britain the recent years opened up the discussion on a classless society. Politicians more and more referred to this vision of a society in which the rigid divisions between social groups are reduced and everyone benefits from the wealth and efforts of modern life.
In this paper I firstly want to discuss general ideas and definitions concerning the term ‘class’ and especially the ‘middle class’, which is my main topic. Secondly, I want to draw the attention to historical developments and therefore, how the middle class succeeded to gain more influence in politics and economy.
Finally, I will concentrate on the recent debate on the question: “Is Britain a classless society?”. In this part I will try to compare different opinions and arguments in present-day publications.

Pierre Bourdieu (1930 - 2002) studierte im Hauptfach Philosophie in Paris und unternahm als Soldat im Algerienkrieg 1958 - 1960 erste Feldforschungen zur Kultur der nordalgerischen Berber. 1979 erscheint in Frankreich sein sehr empirisch orientiertes (sog.) Hauptwerk „La Distinction. Critique sociale du jugement“, zu deutsch (1982): „Die feinen Unterschiede. Kritik der gesellschaftlichen Urteilskraft.“ Seit 1981 hatte er einen Lehrstuhl für Soziologie in Frankreich am College de France und galt als einer der renommiertesten Soziologen Frankreichs. Aus den Grundzügen seiner Untersuchungen in Algerien entstand seine Theorie des Habitus- Konzepts. Bourdieu erkannte, dass die archaisch- vorkapitalistischen algerischen Bauern im Zuge der Kolonialisierung Frankreichs durch die übergestülpte Ökonomisierung der Moderne völlig überfordert waren, da sie schlichtweg nicht über stillschweigend vorausgesetzte Verhaltensdispositionen des westlichen Kapitalismus und der modernen Zivilisation verfügten.

Das Wort und die entsprechende Verwendung des „Habitus“ stammt allerdings nicht von Bourdieu, sondern aus dem alten Latein der antiken Philosophie. Einer lexikalischen Eintragung zufolge versteht man unter „Habitus (lat.) der: ...Erscheinung, Haltung, Gehaben, Besonderheiten im Erscheinungsbild eines Menschen,... auf einer Disposition aufgebaute, er-worbene sittliche Haltung...“ „Habitualisieren“ bedeutet dementsprechend: „zur Gewohnheit machen resp. werden“. Cornelia Bohn ergänzt diese Definition in ihrer Untersuchung und Kritik an Bourdieu noch um die Formulierung des lateinischen „habilis“, der „Fähig- keit“. Auchgreift Bohn auf, dass es bei der deutschen Formulierung des „Habituskonzepts“, der Übersetzung Bourdieus aus dem Französischen, zu übersetzungsbedingten Missverständnissen kommen kann, da das Wort „Habitus“ im Deutschen einzig singulär gebraucht werden kann. Es gibt keine verschiedenen Arten des einen oder anderen Habitus oder ein Plural von Habitus.

Es wird nun im Folgenden dargestellt, inwiefern die Lebensweisen eines Individuums sich gegenseitig durch und mit seinem Umfeld erzeugen und erzeugen lassen. Denn der Habitus ist nach Bourdieu ein Erzeugungs- sowie auch Wahrnehmungsprinzip und eine Interpretationsu. Bewertungsmatrix, welche ihren sozialen Sinn in spezifischen Praxisfeldern manifestiert. Was beeinflusst nun die Mitarbeiter? Was für Motive stehen hinter jeder Handlung? Wie entsteht die Motivation? Wie wichtig ist die Motivation der Mitarbeiter aus Sicht des Unternehmens? Kann man die Motivation nachhaltig steigern? Viele interessante Fragen, die in der vorliegenden Arbeit beantwortet werden sollen.
In den folgenden Ausführungen werden die ausgewählten Theorien und Modelle der Motivation vorgestellt und kritisch betrachtet. Angesichts des umfangreichen Themengebietes werden die Theorien nur in groben Zügen dargestellt. Zu Beginn werden die relevanten Definitionen voneinander abgegrenzt. Anhand der Motivationstheorien wird eine praktische Untersuchung in der betrieblichen Praxis durchgeführt. Ziel der Untersuchung ist die Feststellung, wie sich die einzelnen Faktoren auf die Motivation der Mitarbeiter auswirken. Die Zusammenfassung schießt diese Arbeit ab.

Die Verbindung auditiver und visueller Reize macht es zu einem Medium, dass in seiner Zugänglichkeit anderen Medien weit voraus ist. Für den Lehrer macht die Möglichkeit, Filme im DVD-Format zu zeigen, den Einsatz von Videos durch die Einteilung in Kapitel, zu denen jederzeit gesprungen werden kann, heute noch um einiges komfortabler. Oft stellt sich jedoch die Frage, wie dem Video ein sinnvoller Einsatz im Rahmen einer Unterrichtsreihe gewährt werden kann, so dass es nicht nur als bloßer Lückenfüller dient und die passive Sehhaltung der Schüler weiter ausbaut, die ihnen die Ähnlichkeit mit dem häuslichen Medium Fernsehen suggeriert. Welche Möglichkeiten gibt es also, den Unterricht mit Kamera oder Videorekorder zu ergänzen, und welche Lernziele können damit erreicht werden?
Um diese Fragen zu beantworten soll hier zunächst auf die Charakteristika des Mediums eingegangen werden, dass einiges mehr an Filmmaterial umfassen kann, als womöglich vielerorts angenommen wird. Nachdem dann näher auf mögliche Methoden und Techniken eines Videoeinsatzes eingegangen wurde, werden als Beispiele für den Vergleich einer Verfilmung mit einer literarischen Vorlage Umsetzungen zu Roald Dahls „The Landlady“ und Edgar Allan Poes „The Raven“ analysiert. Dann soll der Einsatz zweier Episodenfilme von Jim Jarmusch im Unterricht der Oberstufe thematisiert und kritisch hinterfragt werden. Abschließend wird noch auf die Möglichkeit eingegangen, mit den Schülern unterschiedlicher Klassenstufen eigene Videos zu erstellen. Dabei sollen immer auch Aspekte thematisiert werden, die für die Behandlung im Unterricht problematisch sein könnten.

Die Betrachtung reicht vom ersten Auftreten des Wortes über seine religiöse Bedeutung bis zu der nach ihm benannten politischen Theorie. Der Leviathan hat seine Ursprünge in der altorientalischen Mythologie. Im Alten Testament fügen sich Leviathan und Drache, Satan und Antichrist zu einer polaren Gegenkraft Gottes. Im monotheistischen Glauben kann es aber keine autonome Position neben Gott geben. Deshalb muss er dessen Geschöpf, also gezielt in den Schöpfungsplan eingesetzt sein. Der Leviathan ist daher auch als dunkle Seite Gottes verstanden worden. Wesentlich wurde der Begriff des Leviathans auch durch Hobbes` Staatsphilosophie geprägt, laut welcher der Absolutismus die einzige Staatsform sei, in der die Menschen in Frieden leben könnten. Arno Schmidt stimmt mit Hobbes in der pessimistischen Weltsicht, der Mensch sei von Natur aus böse und befinde sich in einem natürlichen Kampf mit seinen Mitmenschen, überein. Daraus folgert er jedoch keine politische Notwendigkeit, denn aufgrund des Machtmissbrauchs der Nationalsozialisten ist Schmidt gegen eine Staatsgewalt, die Mittel zur Unterdrückung innehat. Allerdings plädiert er damit nicht für die Demokratie oder eine andere Staatsform, sondern lehnt den Staat allgemein ab. Andererseits kann der nationalsozialistische Staat als Verkörperung des Leviathan gesehen werden. Unter dem Eindruck des Zweiten Weltkrieges und dem Untergang des Dritten Reiches wäre es nahe liegend, dass Schmidt den Leviathan als Gleichnis auf den nationalsozialistischen Staat gesehen hat.
Der Autor hat seinem ihm eigenen Weltbild den Namen Leviathan gegeben. Da dies grundlegend für sein Gesamtwerk ist, bedarf es einer ausführlichen Besprechung und nimmt dieser Punkt den größten Raum in der vorliegenden Arbeit ein: Das Universum werde sich nach seiner Erschaffung mitsamt allem in sich befindlichen auch wieder zerstören. Die Eingebundenheit der Menschen in dieses Prinzip determiniere ihren Charakter. Eigenständige Aktivität sei ihnen daher nicht möglich. Vielmehr trügen die Menschen im Rahmen ihrer Möglichkeiten dazu bei, die Kontraktion des Universums zu beschleunigen.

Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2005 im Fachbereich Germanistik - Linguistik, Note: 1,0, Technische Universität Dresden (Institut für Germanistik), Veranstaltung: Frühneuhochdeutsch, 14 Quellen im Literaturverzeichnis, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Untersuchungsgegenstand dieser wissenschaftlichen Arbeit sind die zusammengesetzten Substantive aus dem frühneuhochdeutschen Text Georg Agricolas "Vom Bergkwerck 12 Bücher", welches erstmalig um 1557 erschienen ist, und auf Grund dieser Zeit der frühneuhochdeutschen Sprache zugeordnet werden kann. Als Textgrundlage wird die diplomatische Abschrift , die am Institut für Germanistik der TU Dresden gemacht wurde, verwendet.
Dabei wird sowohl diachrone als auch (indirekt) synchrone Sprachgeschichte betrieben: So werden die untersuchten Komposita einmal mit dem Entwicklungsstand der Zusammenfügungen des Neuhochdeutschen verglichen. Dafür verwendete ich hauptsächlich die Duden-Grammatik , die Grammatik Peter Eisenbergs sowie Erbens unabdingbare "Einführung in die deutsche Wortbildungslehre".
Zum anderen erfolgt ein Vergleich des Untersuchungskorpus mit den Erkenntnissen der frühneuhochdeutschen Forschung, die aus anderen Texten derselben Epoche gewonnen wurden. Da das Frühneuhochdeutsche eine durchaus heterogene Sprache ist, so dass man für jeden Text eine eigene Grammatik entwickeln könnte, ist zu ergründen, ob und inwieweit sich die substantivischen Komposita im Agricola von denen anderer Werke derselben Zeit unterscheiden. Besonders hilfreich erwiesen sich für den synchronen Vergleich die "Einführung ins Frühneuhochdeutsche" von Hartweg/ Wegera sowie das Standardwerk zur deutschen Sprachgeschichte von Peter von Polenz.
