Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2006 im Fachbereich Klassische Philologie - Latinistik - Literatur, Note: 1,75, Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg, Veranstaltung: Exilliteartur - Seminar für Klassische Philologie - Hauptseminar: 'Ovid-Tristia', 13 Quellen im Literaturverzeichnis, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Ovids „Tristia“ lassen sich gut mit der Phrase „sich etwas von der Seele schreiben“ verbinden, auch wenn in der Forschung kein Konsens darüber besteht: Die Einen sehen die „Tristien“ als „Jammerpoesie eines Jammerlappens“1, andere behaupten sogar, Ovid sei niemals im Exil gewesen. So wird in der Forschung als wichtiger Aspekt vor allem die Funktion der „Tristia“ für Ovid immer wieder erörtert. Auch diese Arbeit befasst sich damit, die Funktion der „Tristien“ für Ovid herauszuarbeiten und zu beurteilen. Der Schwerpunkt liegt in der Frage, ob die Trauerlieder des Ovid als Ventil gelten können, also ob Ovid hauptsächlich schreibt, um seinen aus der Verbannung resultierenden Kummer zu verarbeiten. Hierzu ist es unerlässlich, zunächst einmal darzustellen, was Ovid denn genau Kummer bereitet hat, weshalb seine Situation in der neuen Heimat Tomis dargestellt wird. Im Anschluss daran wird Wilfried Strohs Arbeit „Tröstende Musen“ vorgestellt, die sich als erste sehr ausführlich mit den „Tristia“ unter dem Aspekt der Tröstung durch die Musen beschäftigt hat und dadurch einen Einbezug in diese Arbeit rechtfertigt. Wilfried Stroh beschreibt den Topos der Selbstaussprache in der Dichtung und stellt die These auf, dass Ovids Dichtung als Ventildichtung angesehen werden kann.
